Was looking in the WI regs and I don't see any special Walleye regs for Yellow Lake this year, is that the case?  So the Walleye limit will be back to 3 this year?  Not sure 3 keeper quality fish will be that easy to catch, but at least you can keep them if you do catch them.  Looking forward to being in the boat again, chasing Walleye.

Yep, limit's 3.  Seems to me they made that permanent last year for all the ceded territory.

I'll be up looking for those slab crappies :)

Don,

That very well could be the case, as I didn't get a chance to fish Yellow Lake last year for the first time in 20 years.  I guess I just didn't catch that last year if it was the case.  A friend of mine that lives on the lake has had good luck on HUGE Crappies this year, not much for numbers, but he sends me pics daily of some big ones.  He hasn't kept any this year cuz he can't find the keeper size yet, meaning 11" or smaller.

Got out and fished Yellow for the mn opener weekend ,,, No hassles at the landing like I would have seen on Mn waters,,, Picked up a few fish friday ,,, Lots of short fish and the nuisance pike,,, Still lots of short fish saturday but we had our 2 man limit by 9:28 am with the average fish being 18 inches add to that a few bonus crappies and not a single pike

Crappie fishing yesterday was slow but steady.  Caught WAY more on plastics than minnows.  Most fish in the 5-7 foot range. Not spawning yet, even though the water temp in some of the bays was well above 60 degrees.

Heading down to Yellow Lake in the morning ,,,,, Recent reports from the opener weekend weren't stellar but the water has warmed up and spawning should be done ,,, Gonna try and get some crappie and walleye if they cooperate ,,, Pike shouldn't be a problem

How high is the water, wondering if we can get into little yellow this memorial weekend or not.  How was fishing?

The lake was low when we fished it but they only closed the dam days before ,, should be able to get under the bridge to get to Little yellow ,,, I have not heard that the crappie action was going well tho ,,, Did catch some decent pike  but no walleyes

Anyone do well over Memorial Day, crappies were hard to find for me in the area lakes.

I actually did really well over the long weekend.  Caught hundreds of crappies including some real pigs.  A few bonus walleye as well.

Crappies were in 5 - 7 FOW in the cabbage.  Had much better luck with plastics than minnows.  Walleye were in 8 - 12 FOW  and prefered leeches.

Headed back this afternoon.

Got up today and fished Yellow for the first time in a few years. Tremendous action from perch, walleyes, and crappie...although nothing sizeable. All on a 1/32 oz jig head with either a fathead minnow or a kalins crappie scrub. Had two muskies today that ultimately snapped the line using the plastics. One was a good 42-44" that I fought for 15 minutes on 4lb test...it full body leaped out of the water 3 times, so much fun! On the last leap it snapped the line, but it's always good to be able to see the fish! Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend in Webster!

Could not find the crappies this weekend, but the walleye bite was fantastic.  Caught most on tips of points in 14 - 18 FOW, all on leeches.

Nice work Don

Opener up there was awesome for us. We caught a ton of eyes that weekend and a few smallies hitting the jigs.

Going to head back up to work on tree stands and then wet a line this Sunday.

Two weeks before I get to go back.  Some friends up there found the crappies yesterday, still full of spawn. Sad that I didn't search a bit harder for them last weekend.

Walleye fishing remains quite good with a nice mix of quality fish.  Caught these three Saturday afternoon in just a few hours. 17", 18", 19+".

Fish were caught from 10 - 19 FOW, again all near tips of points.  Crawlers put more in the boat than leeches, but better have both along.

Can't wait to get back.

Don, went out of Ike's on Saturday. Not many people out as it was real windy. Had about 7" of ice right out from the landing and about 4" out past the break. Fishing wasn't great. Two short walleyes and two rock bass. No crappie or perch.

    • Wrapping up the ice fishing after tomorrow. I’ve never owned a propane auger before this one and the one I have was bought used. Any storage tips?
    • They are probably wired differently. I’ve seen this happen.    Actually I had a brand new 2015 Silverado 2500 diesel issued to me as a company vehicle and had issues galore with the factory wiring and the gooseneck trailer I was pulling. It was the biggest nightmare I’ve ever had and it was all with the factory Chevy wiring and integrated brake controller.
    • Not the best time of year to be laying in the cold and slop under a truck tracking down wires but I have done that as well. Sounds like you then need to track down the yellow wire on the truck and see where it may be corroded and shorted somewhere.
    • Thanks for the response leech. I purchased an adapter similar to that one with the test lights. Both trailers I tried are almost new and both have LEDS. All work great with Moms SUV and Dads truck. I’m thinking it has to be somthing corroded or a broken wire on the truck end. But figuring that out is out of my reach.
    • Sounds like it may be a bad harness on the trailer it's self.  Get one of these and test the truck again. If all works it's time to fix or replace the trailer harness. I've done both on the 5 different snowmobile trailers I have had over the years. It could just be a bad corroded or shorted rear light fixture on that one side or a shorted wire on that side.   ATB 16687 Truck Trailer Vehicle Plug Tester 7 Round Blade 4 Pin Wire Light Brake RV Tow
    • I know this forum gets very little people now days but maybe someone could help me out. So I purchased my self a new ( to me) 2000 Silverado 1500 back in August. Be mindful this is my first truck/vehicle. So I tow often ( boat, snowmobiles, atvs, kayak). But the guy I bought it from had said all trailer lighting works great. So I didn’t think much of it. Well a few weeks after I bought it I hooked up a trailer to try the lights.... well. All running lights work perfect, but, no drivers side signal or brake light, passenger side brake light and signal work great. I have tried 3 different trailers and have tried them on 2 other vehicles everything works great. So first thought is Check fuses right? So it was in at a Chevy dealer getting some work done so I had them cheak it out. Fuses all look good and they told me all trailer lights work perfect. So I thought well maybe my 7 pin to 4 flat adapter was bad. I bought a new one of those and tried again. I got one with the test lights on it and sure enough all lights worked great UNTIL I hooked up a trailer. When I did this it kicked out the drivers side brake light and signal on the trailer. At this point I’m feed up with this issue and I’m to worried about getting nailed so I only tow a little ways from home. Anyone have any thoughts on what this could be? I was thinking maybe a bad ground on truck? But how would you know? And also this truck has spent it entire life in Florida until last May so this is the first winter in MN. But it shouldn’t matter since I tried the lights back in the end of August. Thanks a lot!
    • So reviving a dead thread ..

The "park switch" may be the cause of the parasitic draw on some of the console equipped models,
it's an inexpensive switch that sends a shutdown signal to the BCM. When it goes bad the dash lights do not shut off and it drains the battery.
Fords fix is to replace the whole shifter assembly at around $650.00, they do not sell just the switch.
Here is the replacement switch with an more detailed explanation of why it happens.
