MILLER TIME
I'm building a front porch and a pretty good size deck and was wondering what is the benefits of screwing from the bottom side except for apperance. If screwed from the top v.s. the bottom will it rot faster do to water sitting in the holes even if its sealed. It's going to be a large deck so I'm wondering if its worth it in the long run or not. sparcebag
The benifits are appearance only I take it your using treated 5/4s?
bgmny
Did the underneath thing on my deck. I used composite (sp?) decking though. If you like putting thousands of screws in while holding a cordless drill upside down than it would work. It does look nice when your done! sparcebag
I'm sure your using treated. So let it dry It'll turn brown,I like it that way then I use waterseal. You can use any protectant or not its still guarenteed 20yrs. use coated screws it reacts with galvies and they rust.Check out the screws for cement board I used them on my dock, and I dont think I'll use anything but them for exposed decking anymore!
