BRULEDRIFTER
I need a new driveway installed. What can one expect to pay these days for asphalt and for concrete. Driveway is about 16 feet by 55 feet and is currently asphalt. Thanks.
fishtrap3
Couldnt really give you prices, But concrete would be the way to go in my opinion..... And I work with asphalt for a living....
fish2live
i would say 3.5 - 5.5 per square foot just for regular concrete. if you want color and or stamping start double and then some. hope this gives you an idea
dlg
Not to hijack, but would the prices be the same for a concrete patio?
Bigeye30"
Rough figure is about 5500, hard to say exactly without seeing it in person, but I would recommend pouring at least 5.5-6 inches deep for concrete, a little more money but in the long run well worth it. Theres usually a little more time into the removal of asphalt as you end up having to digout the driveway deeper, due to the asphalt being only 2 inches thick and the rest being gravel. rattlereel
Prices for a patio are going to be higher than a driveway slab. The reason is the scale of each project there is a long way from a 900 sf driveway slab and a 150 sf patio slab that is usually in the back yard making it hard to get to. Access can play a huge role in the cost of a project. Also when useing the sf prices given above you also must add for removal of old slabs and or sod both require hauling off site. rattlereel
I would agree with fishtolive on the cost for your size project you will most likely be looking at a cost somewhere in the middle of those numbers. Remember tearing out of your old asphalt is going to be in addition to that price. If you go with concrete the best way to keep your concrete looking great for a long time is to use a penetrating sealer.
fish2live
usually add rufly $1 a square foot for tare out. raddlereal is right the harder it is to get to the more it will cost. but, with a drive way i wouldn't pay more than $5.5 per square foot expecially right now when every contractor i know is looking for work. side lake shoot me a pm

Thanks. 880 sq. ft.Asphalt Tear out = $1,000Concrete = $4,000Roughly 11 yds. of concreteBobcat work (Tear out and haul fill)Lumber, Rebar, Labor, and SaltguardEstimate= Roughly $6,000You only need 3.5-4 inches of concrete for a driveway unless you are parking something really heavy on it (Semi).Prices are correct for stamped and colored. Stamping a driveway looks cool but the wear and tear on it in the winter (plowing and shoveling) just isn't worth it. A colored and stamped border looks awesome and recommend.Concrete cost anywhere from $110-$150 a yard depending on what bag mix you have.
