Questor
I've got Power Pro 30# and now I have a new reel to add line to. I'm thinking about using Sufix Performance Braid 30# on it. Is the Sufix better than the Power Pro?
Orlip
IMO no. I fished with professional guide last fall that used PP on all his reels and the stuff lasts forever. He told me he started to use pp four season's ago. After that I switched all my stuff to PP and am extremely happy. Sorry about the wording I used I hope this clears it up. Wayne Ek
I like the Sufix family of lines. I've used Sufix braid and Power Pro. They both fish the same to me. I like the Sufix a little better for deep water fishing when your making longer casts, it doesn't get the wind knots like Power Pro. And now for a WHAT THE HECK...I'm a fishing guide and avid tournament angler. I change my braid out at least once per year and reverse it on the spools a couple of times per year. Using the same braid for 4 seasons is asking for a lost fish and very disappointed client
TG
What color PP do you prefer? I was thinking of spooling PP on, this season.
Questor
I have the green and it is fine. The issue with Power Pro, and the reason I'd like to try Sufix is that the Power Pro's color fades almost instantly into a light green. Otherwise it's been a great line. I really like it a lot. It seems like Power Pro and Sufix are the top competitors in this category of braided lines.
EBass
I ran across a couple of bad batches of PP 30#. Lost fish because of it . A few of my buds use suffix, so I'm going to give that a try. Also, anyone use that fireline crystal? It's suppose to "disappear" underwater. I may try that out on my crankbait rod this season. Now I'm thinkin bout spring and summer and it's 8 out
traveler
I've been pleased with PP, never tried suffix braid. PP came out with a red color (not flourescent) this year and I'll likely give that a try...just cause it's purty.
cjac
I started using Suffix last year, tried it on a couple bass rods and a couple muskie rods. I was quite pleased with it. Spools up nicely and is pliable. Wayne, What the heck is right! I'm a recreational guy and I get a season if I'm lucky, and that includes the flipping line around on the spool. (Don't you love the way the neighbors look at you when you're doing that?) A guide that has the same line for 4 years???......hmmmmm. Shorelunch
I've had very good luck with PP and have one crank rod with Sufix. They're both fine, but I lean towards PP. I wouldn't recommend Fireine for trolling because it's not round, it's oval, so the PP and Sufix lines will get better depth. Crystal Fireline is not invisible under water - it's has low visibility (espicially to the fisherman buying it). If you're concerned about visibility, go with the flouro leader. BAIT956
I have used PP for a long while and Sufix Braid since it came out. I have been pleased with the performance of both, although, like EBass, I have seen a couple of bad batches of PP. No real complaints other than that. I used Fireline Crystal in 20# on a baitcaster last year for throwing spinnerbaits/cranks and it was great. Casted well although somewhat noisey if that bothers you. I have found all braids to be noisey but Crystal is a little more so. The durability was terrific under heavy use conditions. It is now definately my line of choice in this line wt. for baitcasting. I have never used it on a spinning reel. I don't think you can go too far wrong useing any of them.

I switched to PP last year on a couple of my reels. I have been really pleased with it so far. I was informed that the round PP actually doesn't go as deep as fireline when trolling. They told me that it will more often than not keep a crankbait running higher than it would normally. I don't troll that often, so I didn't really get a chance to test this theory. Can anyone clarify? CA
Questor
I asked an avid troller about this and he said braid trolls deeper than mono, but not quite as deep as wire.

Differences in running depth between fireline, power pro or any of the superlines are minimal, as long as you're comparing lines that are the same diameter. The reason the superlines "run deeper" than mono is becasuse you're trolling with thinner diameter line. 10 lb mono is 10 lb diameter, whereas 10 lb superline (any brand) is 4 lb diameter. That's how / why you get the difference in running depth. At times I troll for shallow walleyes with 50 lb superline, it's the diameter of 12 lb mono and lets me keep my bait above the rocks / weeds and farther away from the boat. At other times I troll with 20 or 30 lb superline to get the thinner diameter and more running depth from my lures. Line diameter is the key.
