Gator Slayer
I have a duel fuel 2 mantle lantern that just is not putting out the normal light/heat. When I pressurize the tank it doesn't roar like it used to. I imagine it is varnished like a bad carb. Has anyone cleaned one of these units? and where to I start? alwaysfishin
Try putting this up in the equipment/expert information forum.
Bob_D
Had it been in storage for a while? I had one do the same thing and it was a siderweb in the main tube that connected to the mantle stopping the fuel from defusing properly. It could also be a bad generator. Gator Slayer
No, I had used it the day before and it worked fine, or so I thought. Ironically, I just started using coleman's "premium" fuel. I have heard of running seafoam through it, Has anyone tried this and at what ratio to white gas? wayne123
Did you use unleaded gas before? When I used unleaded gas mine did not work well. I switched to white gas and they work fine. Just to make sure you know the newer lanterns do no have the cleaning lever. You clean them by turning the gas valve off and on several times. Gator Slayer
I've never used unleaded. I'll give the lever a try, I still think I'll run some seafoam thru it.
bennybear
I would put a new generator in it. It will burn cleaner give off more light and light easier. You should be able to get one for $10.
