Questor
I'm looking at getting a new reel for fishing that includes pike up to about 10 pounds. No really large lures. I've had good luck with one of the Ambassasdeur round reels and am considering the Record model. Is that a good reel? Does Ambassadeur still make good quality reels? Thanks. 10,000 Casts
they still make very good reels,The record is tough to beat for the money. Very smooth and will last a long time. Don't over look the c4, great reel for $40-$50 less and it has a higher gear ratio which is good for smaller baits.John
Dano_the_jigasaurus
If pike are going to be the largest of your quarry you may want to look at a low profile baitcaster. It is a bit easier on the hand, easier to hold on to for extended periods of time, it does however lower your line capacity, but maybe something to look into. Sorry about the rambling, In regards to your record question, it is a great reel used one for muskie this summer and loved it. Abu's round baitcasters are all great. Questor
Thanks. The comment about the C4 is very well taken. I have a narrow-spool C4 that I use for bass fishing, and have had it for several years. It's excellent.
bassNspear
They make very good reels. I have had a couple of them, and i have never had any problems with them. They have always been great for me. Only part i have problem with, is that they dont caught fish. LOL
