Fiskas Jigs

Recommended Posts

Does anybody know if those swedish Fiskas Jigs come in glow in the dark? I was really impressed with these jigs...the tungsten helps them drop like a stone and the paint detail is amazing. The hook setup is great and the fish have loved them so far. But when night time comes, I had to switch to something that glowed. Anyone see any glow jigs? Maybe I can pick up some glow paint and adapt some of my own.

I also love them for the weight/size ratio. Just wish they had other colors of glow besides the standard green (at least in the really small sizes). check sportmans or gander both carried them (the glows) earlier in the year.

They do have some that glow... I however, have not had the luck you have. I too like the rate of fall and that they fish heavy. But, the hook seems to small for the size of the head, and I end up missing a lot of fish on them. I have done much better on the Hali jigs and the new Diamond jig by CJ&S.

again, just my opinion.. I love the paint jobs on them, love the colors they offer, love the tungston, just not a fan of the hook.

These are great jigs! Hooking fish was an issue for me early on too but it has since gotten better. I twisted the shank of the hook where it meets the head of the jig out and to the right. This provides a little extra gap that wasn't there right out of the package.

thanks for that little tip. i was also having trouble with hookups occasionally. have to give that idea a try. now if they would only make red glows or red hooks.

First off I can't believe I am posting in the Panfish Forum!

I have close to the same opinion as Dietz. Hooking percentage is low for me. And I have actually snapped some of the hooks off when I was tweaking them.

I have done well lately with the Optic Jigs from Little Atom. They seem to be very close to the Fiskas but have better hooks IMO.

This does not mean I do not use them from time to time, as am still learning some of the panfish game.

i love these little things. they have worked very well for me and had no issue with the hooks. lots of $ for the little things, all that shipping.

Wow, thats like a double negative... First posting in the panfish forum, and then to agree with me?... yikes!~

I wish more companies would try the tungston thing. I have no problem paying a couple of bucks for an ice jig.. You do not loose that many of them. I'm not going to give the Fiskas I have away, but they have lost confidence in being used a lot.

No Carp do not have teeth either! grin.gif I should have known better than to step in here.

I have really been enjoying going out and getting the pannies this winter. It has been a few years since I have persued them. Normally this time of year I would have been switching over to jumbo perch fishing.

Just for the record I did well on Fiskas the other night.

    • A 12v camera with light available from Tomtop out of China $70 with 65 ft cable on reel. Its color HD resolution 1000tvl better than 720p used by Marcum & Aquavu HD units. (Except latest Marcum 1020p latest camera $650). Only drawback, it takes 20 to 30 days and $6 shiping. Link to Tomtop camera. They off a lot of camera options so you may want to da a bit of searching. https://m.tomtop.com/p-y3578-15.html?currency=USD&Warehouse=CN&aid=gplausyly&mid=10000018477&utm_source=SEM&utm_medium=Google Adwords&utm_campaign=TT_PLA_YLY&utm_content=2945&gclid=Cj0KCQiAxs3gBRDGARIsAO4tqq3wBcNnVRFIUf2QknDLs18FF6NrhJ9raJW9BAdaowvDD1gw08q_abwaAilBEALw_wcB Pic simple wire diagram. • need to win on home ice, no matter how good they are. seems as though we lost our home ice advantage, looks like we may be getting the home cooking working again.
    • congrats on the 10 years. I got curious how long I have been here, I hit 16 years last month, I can't believe its been that long. 🤓
    • Looking fabulistic grainbelt!! How long did you let em swim in the marinade anyhow??
    • Great advice and sounds like you have had some great times on the great Upper Red Lake!  The difference on Red from having a good day to a great day can be as much as moving 20 feet away!  From what you explain I would try to befriend a local or rent an ice auger and bring with the cold gear.  Rent your house like you are and then throw the auger in the car and explore or just pop holes in the area of your house so you can get out enjoy the uniqueness of fishing outside and your chances for landing more fish increases greatly opposed to hard house fishing.  Good Luck!!
    • I have been here a good 17 years and I think there is only about 1 guy left here that I have met in person. Back in the day I knew and met several members who were frequent posters on FM. I met quite a few of them through the BP Catfish League but I think most of those guys are long gone.
