Northern Wisconsin Ice conditions?

Jim W.,
My in-laws live outside of Hurley and have a cabin about 10 miles north of the flowage. Their lake is only about 300 acres, but he has pronounced it safe to icefish, @6 inches as of monday. I would check with the bait shop in Mercer (cant remember the name) cause they had rain on sunday and any ice on the flowage may have disappeared on all but the back bays. Good luck if you get out, they are getting a dusting of snow there today.I will be there the 22nd to 25th, will let you know what i find out. Xplorer

Hey Jim,

I talked to somebody from that area and was told there were people on it over the weekend. I would check the web for the Mercer Chamber of Commerce. You probably will be able to find updated ice reports.

Hey all,
Just wondering if any of you boys from "Sconny" know what the ice conditions are in Northern Wisconsin. I will be(hopefully)fishing the Turtle Flambeau on the 28th. Wondering if it will be worth the 5-6 hour drive?

Thanks a ton!!

xplorer & flyingfish,

Thanks for the valuable info! My friend has a cabin on the Flowage with a real decent bay for early ice walldogs! I'm crossing my fingers for my first time on ice this year!!

Keep the rods bendin'!!
