500spikes
I have added a few goldfish flakes and change the water often keeping them cool.
eurolarva
Dont use tap water either. If you do use chlorine killer in the water. Lake water is the best. Distilled water is dead and is no good either.
DooWap
I buy some of that chlorine neutralizer from the shop then you can use all the tap water you want
RobertELee
I like to put a couple handfulls of snow into my bucket each day. It helps to keep the water nice and cold. Once in the morning and once at night. If the water is cold the minnows go into a sort of dormancy and they will not have to eat, therefore no feeding and no ammonia build-up. coldmark
What about leaving the minnows in the lake if you plan to fish a few days in a row? Anyone do this? My buddy said his dad had some kind of metal minnow bucket with holes and a chain. He would lift it up when he needed minnows and put a few in a small foam bucket.Anyone use a system like this? I'm planning a 3 night sleepover in my new shack and I'd like to try it. Thanks!
fishinbabe
Coldmark, we bought a mesh bag for this purpose from Thorne Bros. and we keep our minnows in that down one of our extra holes, and just pull up when needed. Otherwise it stays down there the whole weekend.
