Spirit Lake or Okaboji reports?

Recommended Posts

As of last Saturday SL was still pretty slow did hear reports of a few nice gills on the grade and templar park. several people trying anglers bay but I never heard anything good.

We fished west lake O Saturday morning with little success there were some people getting a few perch in little Millers up in the NW corner but if you don't bring your wheeler its a pretty good haul with all of your stuff. there were a few people fishing the canals and I heard some decent reports and some nice fish but the action was slow. We fished Little Emerson's in the afternoon where we drove out there like the other 50 people. We did find some decent fish but not alot of keepers these fish are very picky and there were alot of slough sharks and 'skies on the prowl and i did manage to get a few decent bass. There were people on the big bay but they werent out too far and I never heard any reports. The last time I was out on Smith's it was still dirty and there were very few fish there but the ones that were there were small and very aggressive.

Hope this helps alittle if you need to know anything else i'm planning on going back Saturday you can give me a call for a more recent report.

From all reports I've heard, it's slow. Little Emerson and Miller's were the only decent reports OhShucks had last night. I'm sticking to farm ponds and having excellent panfish action...maybe Okoboji in another week or so.

Did see a couple of full sized pickups on Smith's by the permanent shacks last Sunday. I wouldn't recommend it, but didn't hear of anyone going through either.

Anyone know if they're driving out on Emerson yet? Gotta be getting close. Would like to give it a try there this weekend but with the bone chilling temps forecast, I don't want to be dragging the shack too far from the truck.

Heard from another source that a truck went through on Emerson Bay last Saturday. Sounds like Little Emerson and Smith's are OK, but that's about it as far as driving out. Maybe with these frigid temps in the forecast, that'll change in a week or so.

Be careful driving out. I know somebody that drove out, parked next to the "ice road" and walked 40 yards to set up and punched trhough 4" of ice. That was late last week. Plenty irregular ice out there and everywhere this year.
