Getting a new Lund, is the 60 HP EFI going to perform

Fishin_Fool

Question

Hi, I'm new to the forum and just in time. I looking at a Lund Explorer 1600 tiller. The boat maxes out at 60 HP. I'm looking at the Merc 60HP EFI 4 stroke. Anyone know if this will perform well. I'm not looking to race but I don't want to spend all day moving from spot to spot.

I just bought a 17ft Lund Pro Angler which is a tiller boat with a 60hp Merc 4 stroke EFI and it tops out at 33mph which is plenty fast for me and with 3 guys a full tank and 2 full livewells she'll still do almost 30mph once you get her on plane. The biggest motor the boat can take is a 75hp but with the mercs that's a much bigger motor and only would have done maybe 5mph more so I stayed with the 60 and it's been an awesome motor. I've used the rig well over 100 times on an almost daily basis since I got it in August and no complaints at all. When it's real cold out you just need to let that motor warm up a bit before you get going.
