American Idol

The Grebe

Recommended Posts

Aww, that sucked! I would have made a small wager that it would have been Phil that was leaving! This was that girls third trip to the idol and she certainly came a long ways, I was hoping she would go at least a week or two further?

Other then Sanjaya staying, no matter what he does, or how he sings, there's no telling how the voting is gonna turn out?

Sometimes it's a bummer....I didn't think she could win, but I was rootin for her to go a bit further.

Gina was the last one in the bottom three that I thought would go out. I really believed the bottom three were haley, Phil and Sanj.

There have been other years when all you can do is shake your head. Sanj will be out before the top five or I will stop watching. I keep thinking how long can he stay in, but its good for the ratings as people are watching to see if he makes it another week.

remember john the crooner, chicken little, there have been others too who surely should not have made it as far as they did but always seems to be one in there. I am just used to it now, but at least they could have made it sanjya's sister, she got the better end of the looks in the family. hehehehe

I didnt watch tonight. Tired of the Sanjaja deal. I have tried to connect with the show this year and just lost interest. Until they change they way they allow callers to vote and only allow 1 call per number I believe I am done.

Seems like a big joke to see how far Sanjaja can go. He has so little talent and yet continues. frown.gif

Like Randy said last night, 'Dawg, you got to be one of the smartest contestants we've ever had on the show?"

Because he plays the audience, he reinvents himself and he is entertaining. He certainly isn't the best singer, but it's his face, with it's many different hairdo's that is plastered all over the media? Must be something there?

Even Simon grudgingly gave ground last night and told him that his performance was "Okay".

In my opinion, there are 3 truely real entertainers on this years idol, Doolittle, Blake and Sanjaya. I know it's about singing and not the performance for entertainments sake, but to me it all has to run together.

There have been alot of singers that didn't have much of a singing voice, perse, but parlayed their entertainment ability into something big and the voice, although it ceratinly wasn't angelic, followed them and became part of who they were as entertainers...Johnny Cash is a good example.

AMEN TO ALL OF THAT!! The overall talent of the contestents has gone down hill every year since the first year. I believe that Amereican Idol is losing quite a few people due to the lack of talent in this "singing contest".

Entertaining is a big part of being a star, but if they can't sing, no one is going to buy the CD's. I think the point of this competition is to launch singing careers for the winners, not have them continue to move through the competetition on crazy appearances and an 11 year old fan base. If "Sanjaya" God forbid makes it to the end, I can guarentee that people will forget about him very quickly once the show is over.

I don't know about you, but I haven't purchased any CD's yet from past winners? The only one I would probably consider is Chris Daughtry's, and he didn't even win.

I can't stand Sanjaya and detest that he has made it this far, but his performance last night was honestly better than I thought he could do and not entirely bad. I still think he's not good, but he was better than expected last night. I've missed the last couple weeks and so this was the first I've seen I think for two performances.

As for bottom three, my vote would be Chris, Phil and Haley with Phil going home. I think Haley will go instead though, unless her incredible gams pull through enough hormone votes to keep her! grin.gif

They might, they just might? Them and that incredibly pretty face and knock out smile....she doesn't sing that well, she has her moments where her voice shines. But still, I wouldn't mind her staying for a bit....either that, or put out a calendar for sale! grin.gif

Not true, remember William Hung? Last I heard he was in his second cd and the first was selling good. I have no idea who on earth would buy it though, but people do.

CA,

My wife own's Kelly Clarkson CD and it is really good (from what I've been told). She I think is a true American Idol but it's been down hill since her. Just my .02.

I don't agree with that Meat run, it depends upon what you like. Carrie Underwood has sold like a billion CD's and won tons of awards already in Country Music and I happen to think she's very very good. She was just two Idols ago.

True Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson were definately "True talent" that got what they deserved, but in all honesty what other American Idols have really amounted to much of anything. I think that there were just as many non-winners who got a record deal out of it.

The fact of the matter is, whether or not you win American Idol or not, If you have talent, you will get picked up and get a recording contract. (Ex: Clay Aitkin, Kelly Pickler, Chris Daughtry...I am sure that there are more)

Last I heared Ruben was singing gospel music and Taylor Hicks is ...Well I'm not really sure what he's doing. We have already forgot about Taylor and he won the thing last year. Why did he when? Well frankly because he had "something different" that kept him getting votes week in and week out. This reason is why I fear that Sanjaya will continue on.

What are you talking about? I saw Clay Aikin playing a cafeteria worker that gets fired on a repeat of Scrubs. If that's not making it, what is? grin.gif

Oh, yeah. Taylor Hicks is currently doing a casino tour, and was at Mystic Lake a couple of weeks ago. Way to go, Buddy! Doors are opening now!

Yah, all it takes to be a good woman country singer is a southern accent, and good looks. Kelly Clarkson actually has a great voice.I agree that the American Idol show has gone downhill since show 1.

Ditto that LD...How could they? Them dirty rats! grin.gif The legs didn't carry the day, nor the sultry looks....America voted and Haley's out! Wahhhhhhh!!!!

Not to worry, old Hugh Hefner will have a limo waitin for her even before her suitcase is packed!

If they're going to continue doing this show in future seasons, they're going to need a different contestant advancement system. Put more power/authority in the hands of the judges and less in the hands of the voting public.

BC....Ooooohh? Thats a slippery slope there bud? Maybe change the voting format, but leave it in the hands of the voting public.

As per Ryan Seacrest, there were 35 million votes tallied, sure, some where bogus, there are bogus votes in any kind of election where large numbers are involved....but I'd bet the majority of them weren't.

The idol is full of surprises....who would have thought that Chris Dorthy (Sp) would have been voted off last year?

The voting thing seems to hinge on weither Sanjaya stays or goes and nothing else? Like it or not, if Sanjaya keeps performing (and he is a performer) and showing his multiple talents along with the acceptable, if not the best singing voice, he might go deep in this thing?

I didn't like him at first either, but as he showed his spirit, his grit, his ability to stand and deliver in the face of all this adversity he has to be facing because of the voting allegations, plus the obvious fact that he is indeed refining his game and in my opinion, giving entertaining performances, I think there is more to this kid then what we have been giving him credit for!

I think the time for his departure would have been a while back in the competition...he's getting better the further he goes...Simon grudgingly alluded to that!

It's getting down to the championship rounds and the kid is continuing to fight, he isn't giving up! I hope the others realize that the enemy is at the gate and his name may well be Sanjaya!

Sangina will be absolutely hideous next week trying to sing country (although I can't really see any of the guys doing that good at it...). This may be the best chance to get rid of him for a while...
