flasher/gps question

I've got 850 dollars in cabela's gift cards and was looking at getting a flasher for ice fishing. Started to look at the aqua vu vpg, but then thought gps would really be the way to go. Anyone use the lowrance 334c summer winter kit with the gps. Thinking if i went for the gusto right away I wouldn't need any other flasher, and the gps would really help when we find the honey holes. IF ANYONE HAS USED THIS PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF ITS WORTH THE MONEY OR IF I SHOULD JUST GET A VEX OR MARCUM. Already have an aqua vu cam. Just want to get a good flasher.

I have the 334c in my boat for the summer time and like it. I have not tried it on the ice cause I have a Vexilar and handheld H2O. I have heard good things about it on the ice. I dont think the flasher option on the 334 works quite as fast as the Marcum or Vex but I dont know for sure. confused.gif If I was looking to get one unit that covered everything (summer, winter, and GPS all in one) I would get this unit. Good luck and I am sure you will get other replies.

Personally, I'd go with the Vex fl 18/20, and an H2OC. I don't know if you fish from a wheeler or snowmobile or not, but I have seen 2 334s break their mounts. 1 on a wheeler, and 1 on a snowmobile. Plus, its nice to have the two pieces seperate, so if one part breaks, the whole unit is not junk. That has been my experience with combo units (DVD-VCR).

I haven't used the 334c, but suppose that would work. I prefer a small hand held gps w/ lakemaps in the winter for quick movement between the truck, the wheeler and my coat pocket. Any good flasher will work, i've alway used a vexlar, but be sure to get one that has an interference option. Depends on where and how you fish, but tends to be a problem in the winter. Also make sure you get a good winter kit for easy viewing and quick movement between holes
