Treble hooks and Lures

Wondering if you can take a lure and modify it and still stay within the legal laws?

More specific is can I take a Buck shot rattle jig, take off the treble hook, tie a 6" drop line and re-tie the treble hook back on?

Hiya! Long time, no see/hear.... Mark, I think that if you take leader material, (wire, swivels, etc) & attached them to the "lure body", it would probably be legal. Since you just made the lure "longer" than the original. now get out there & get that lure wet on your tip-up. {BTW, I have been doing what you asked about, on my tipups for about 5 years. But, I just used spoons. So, I hope its legal.... ;-)
