jjohnson5150
Has anyone looked into seeing if the DNR allows Crappie cribs on specific lakes? I know they have some on URL, but what about others?
Zzapp
I'll have to do some research - the only cribs I'm familiar with involve card games TJ
PerchJerker
Pretty sure you need a permit from the dnr to put them in the water

hoggs222
If I'm not mistaken, it's pretty much dropping an old Xmas tree or 4 down the old ice hole. Correct me if I'm wrong.Hoggs
smg04
ive seen cribs made out of anything from chickinwire, and old tires bolted together(washed up good first), and also just a pile a brush and old trees in a spot, pretty sure its illeagl to put them in public waters, the ones i've seen have all been on private farm ponds and with permission from the owner
delmuts
there are some that are made of plastic( old mono from berkely) or PVC pipe also.
metrojoe
Here is a pic of one of the log cribs put in Upper Red Lake. I'm not sure if it's legal or not, but I have heard of people using christmas trees.
hanson
Anything that you put in the lake permanently is illegal.I'm fairly certain the cribs on URL needed permits.
GatorBait
Yeah, usually you will only see DNR and local fishing clubs taking part in putting cribs down which is used for conservational reasons. Never heard of John Doe being able to put cribs where he wants, I would assume that permits would be required, as mentioned above. I do have to say that they are great tools and help with the populations.
so haaad
Yep, they require a permit from the DNR waters division. However, I know that the DNR rarely issues them anymore to private individuals.
