Patching Otter Fish House

Hello. My Dad just purchased a used Otter Fishouse. It has a couple of rodent holes that need patching. I see that you can buy matching material through Otter, but how does the patching work? Do you use adhesive? Do you sew it? What is the best way to do this? Is it worth taking in to have it done? He may want a couple of windows put in as well. Thanks for your help

It is quite simple to do actually. Just buy a small section of canvas from a canvas shop (match it of course) and some canvas patch adhesive glue. Cut out two patches for each hole that match. They should overlap by at least an inch or so around the entire hole. Then with the canvas laying flat, place glue on one entire patch and place on the underside of the hole and glue. There will be over run when you press it flat so make sure to wipe off excess immediately and do it on a piece of wood or card board you don't care about. Then put glue on the other patch and put directly over the first patch and squeegie out excess and wipe clean. Let set for at least 20 minutes before moving on to the next hole to patch....Also, this needs to be done in a warm environment for the glue to set up properly and cure. If done right it should be good as new. Much cheaper than having patches sewn in. Good luck!

The Otter canvas repair kits now come with adhesive and directions. Very simple. One hint is to cut as round as you can so no edges or corners catch on anything.
