Catmendo
The Red River's fall greenback run is really starting to take shape! Today some guests of mine from Ill. hammered some beauites. They ended up with a dozen between 20 and twenty two inches and they released a nine plus and an eleven plus!As I have been predicting all along, all it will take is some cooler temps and things will begin to fall into place! The water temps has dropped another two degree's since yesterday, it's now sitting at 59 degree's. The action will remain hot for the duration of the open water season and this winter the action should be mind blowing!!!

tbags
I am heading to the Pine Falls area end of Oct. Can anyone tell me where to get a map of the river there? And how far from the Red is Pine Falls? Which is better, Winnipeg or Red?
volksdriver
I have to agree with Stu...... I fish both the Red and Winnipeg River systems a fair bit each fall, and have found the Red outproduces for BIG fish, the Winnipeg River seems to provide more numbers. Finding large fish in the Red now, and having just finished close to 4 days on the water.... the largest one I caught so far has been 29.5 inches. NOTHING like having those greenback walleye on the end of the line.... As Stu mentions, the rivers are within an hour of each other, and there have been a few times when I have fished both in the same day. Good luck wherever you decide to head. tbags
Is there any way to get a map of either place? Where is a good place to stay?
Hemlock
There are maps of the Winnipeg River leaving Lake of the Woods, north and west for about 40 miles...after that further NW, I'm not sure.
