True
just wondering if a fella should be fishing the shallow flats or the deep holes this time of year?
DTro
Shallow or deep? Yes I honestly have better success fishing shallower water that has nearby access to the deep stuff. Yes, there are big hogs caught every year in the deepest of the deeps, but it takes a patient person to wait out those fish. Lately I've caught quite a few in water no deeper than 10 ft. In fact a couple were in probably less than 3ft. These aren't little fish either. Don't be afraid to try the shallows, especially after sunset. The fish like to push the bait up against the shoreline and then feast. There was a study in this years "Catfish Insider" that showed most of the feeding and movement occurs in the in-between depths, which is different for each river and current water level. Last night we had a flat blow up on us as we approached a creek mouth. The fish was in no more than 8 inches of water.
