First off, a huge Welcome To FishingMinnesota.com Great to have you with us. Please join in on the many forums here, and I think its great that your first post was in the Bass Forum... grin.gif

As for WBL, I missed your post last night.. so, your probably out fishing... I hope your setting the hook on one as I type!!

If it were me I would throw topwaters on the flats in the morning.. THen try and throw some deep cranks to locate some fish, then slow down with a texas rig or other slow moving lure. My guess with the weather/season, they will be on the outter edge still on the points or inside turns. You will also find a few fish shallow in the slop still yet.

Again, welcome, and good luck!

Let me second that welcome. There is so much on this site in the form of information that it will make up for some time on the water. The people on here are also tremendously helpful in just about any question you ask.

i have never fished wbl but i know many of the fellas on here love it so i am sure they will jump in and give you their 2 cents.

***Deitz what are you doing looking at the bass forum when you should be in school. Isn't that naughty???? ike

Ike-We teachers arent to be to school till 8am, and our school day doesnt start till 9:10... So, I wasn't breaking any naughty rules.. LOL... and now is my prep time(on this day at least)...

Also- to the original poster.. I was looking at your profile and saw you were a student in WBL... If you look at my last name.. you may recognise it... I believe my wife may have been a past teacher of yours...

I started early this morning mainly searching for deep bass but also went pretty shallow. The bass were pretty slow this morning, i only caught 6 with the biggest a 17 incher. All of the bass i caught were in 12 to 15 feet of water on a texas rigged water beatle. Also the first spot i fished a 20 ft hump and on my first cast with a rapala DT-16 i caught a 35 inch musky which put up a nice fight and also went aiborne about four feet.

I fish WB often (not anymore that school has started..[PoorWordUsage]ers)... er.. but anyway... I my 'deep water bass' on WBL are 14+' or so... perhaps between a steeper drop off and terminating weedline. I do well with plastics mainly.. but still.. even though it's not fall yet.. I found last week some great fish in 4-6' area's between sand or rocky flats surrounded by weeds... and I got a few nice ones with poppers in perhaps just 2 feet of weedy water too.. now that the water is cooling! Too late but have fun anyway!
