Bait Tank /Live Well Additives

Has anybody tried any of the chemicals you add to the water to help keep baitfish in good shape? Any recomendations?

There are lots of them out there. The Tap water conditioners work well.

1.They add a protective slime coating to the bait. Which also doubles as a stress coat and adds electrolytes.

2.They will also buffer the ph in the water.

3. They also remove chlorine an chloramine.

Products that have worked well for me have been Amquel, Aqua plus, NovAqua.

These work well for storing and keeping at home.

For your bait coolers on the road BaitFresh and Better Bait do well with addition of some ice cubes and good aereation.

Thanks! I just picked up some Bait Fresh from cabelas. I am hoping it will help keep the bullies in a bit better shape for longer.

I don't know what its called or where you can get it at, but there is an additive that turns the water a blue color that does a very good job on minnows.

Some sort of smurf juice? I know have seen the stuff you are talking about. I bought some Bait Fresh. Sounds like what I am looking for.

Better bait is the one that turns the water blue. When it completely dissolves just add more. So the goal is to keep the water blue/green.

There is also another product called bait buddies that do the same thing. They come in 2 tablets.

::One tablet is grey. The gray oxygen tablet bubbles all day long releasing oxygen into the water for the baitfish

::The second is blue. The blue tablet dissolves in a matter of minutes to fully condition the water by removing harmful chlorine and heavy metals, stimulating the natural slime coating on the baitfish, adding beneficial electrolytes, reducing fungus and bacteria, and keeping the bait frisky. Once dissolved, the blue tablet leaves the water a clear blue color
