Barbie Lure

Recommended Posts

Well my attempt last year for a Barbie Muskie lure didn't workout to well so it's back to the drawing board. I thought I would share the first step to a new Barbie Lure. I drilled and then snaked some 330lb test Mason single strand wire from Barbies bottom and up through her head. With that accomplished I drilled a couple of holes in her back so that I could fit a 7/0 Mustad trailing single hook. After bending the hook around so that the eye would fit in her neck, I rethreaded the wire to go through the hook eye. Hopefully tomorrow I can snake some leader wire up her legs and join the wire at her crotch so that I can crimp on some treble hooks at her feet. As a final touch I'll probably tie some bucktail and flashaboo at her feet to cover the trebles.

I remember tossing my sister's barbies up in the air as a kid...a few throws and the legs went flying off. You may want to run a bolt through her hip to keep them on, as I would imagine they will fly at the first cast

I tried casting a headless Barbie last year and the legs held on fine. The late model Barbie's are pretty well made. My 7 year old daughter picked me up a bunch of Barbie's at garage sales last year - she thinks a Barbie Muskie lure is cool.

Well here's the finished lure. The single hook is still in her back and she grew a spinner on her head. The hooks are attached to the 330lb test wire running through her body. The last trebble is attached to some leader wire (150lb test 7 strand) and it hangs at her feet. Barbie2.jpg

When will these be available at some of our fine sponsors?

If it ever catches a Muskie I'm going to have a mount made with the fish biting Barbie. My 7 year old daughter is out combing garage sales for a suitable bikini or wet suit (SCUBA Barbie would be funny).

You deserve another "Certificate of Accomplishment" plaque like the one in the background of your photo.... grin.gif You've probably done something no person has ever done before. LOL
