Both are good. The Navionics will cover lots more lakes for you. Including all the midwest states. But having both chips I do like Lakemasters better because they have road information on there chips too. So on the Minnesota chip pretty much every road in the state is on the chip. So that makes the lakemaster chip a handy tool for all seasons. If you stick pretty much to MN then Lakemaster would be good for you but if you travel around to other states in the Midwest then you might want to spend the money for the Navionic chip. The Navionic chip currently does not have any roads on them.

For Minnesota Lakes, Lakemaster would be my choice.

Both chips have Mille Lacs in high definition so there may be other factors that sway your decision. I personally like having the Minnesota highways and streets on the GPS, which LM has. Its a big road atlas in the palm of your hand.

I've used both and prefer LakeMaster. The primary reason is more of the lakes I fish are in high definition maps on LM than Nav (Nav has more lakes but not more high definition lakes). Also, you can zoom in much closer with LM, this can be a source of frustration for me when using the Nav chip.

I like Navionics because it covers more lakes. Granted they are only the standard DNR maps for a lot of them, but it still gives me a general reference when venturing on new water. It also allows me to figure out a game-plan based on what I'm seeing on my GPS instead of just guessing.

Both LakeMaster and Navionics make great products, and I own both, but I've become more fond of Navionics as of late.

But like Chris mentioned, both have high-definition maps for the more popular lakes, and the LakeMaster also had road names so you can use it in your car/truck as well, where the Navionics only has lake info.

Now I run the LakeMaster in my truck and the Navionics in the boat smile.gif

sounds like lake master may be the way to go, next question, is where to get it the cheapest?? budget is stretched thinner than it's ever been, and have to convince the boss that it is "necessary"!!!

thanks guys

I have both LM and Nav chips and I like the Lakemaster better also. I think they are price protected, so they should be the same price everywhere.

You're probably looking to buy it right away, but if you aren't in a hurry, I would check Reeds and Thorne Bros at the sports show. They seem more willing to bargain at the sports show.

Good luck!
