Pouring Bismuth sinkers?

Anybody use bismuth for sinkers and jigs? Next year we in Vermont need to stop using lead for sinkers under 1/2 oz so I'm tring to get some info on non-lead materials.

What type of bismuth do you use? 99.9% or a 95% bismuth/ 5% tin mix? What is the advantage/disadvantage of each?

I can't find a melting pot that will go to 6000 deg F so tungsten is out. wink.gif

Ok...I guess I'll reply to myself. wink.gif Looks like I'll go with a bismuth/tin mixture of some sort. From what I have read, bismuth is pretty brittle and can crack when it hits rocks (that's why bismuth sinkers are wrapped in plastic). Tin will soften it up, but I guess I'll need to play around with it to get the right combination of density and softness.
