I don't know what to do!

Fishin4Life

Question

So I found a guy with a boat that I want. He wants $2200 for it. Its a 16' or so 1978 Star craft with around the same year 55 horse johnson motor. He is a very honest guy I have done business with him before so I know the motor will be tip top. Is this a decent price? Boat seems to be in great condition...

My delima, I don't have $2200 cash. (well I do but see below for the explanation of that) To get the boat I would need to sell my current boat along with my motorcycle. I am very hesitent to sell the bike, what would you guys do! I don't ride it a whole lot anymore since I got so heavy into fishing...

Also if I spend all my cash the girlfriend might flip her lid cause she has really been itchen for a ring lately...I guess after 5 and a half years that is expected.

Any advice!? confused.gif

What a dilema.

If it were me, it's not but if it were, I'd get rid of the bike and go boating. Pick your poisen dude and ask yourself what you're going to spend more time on, the boat or the bike?

As far as the lady goes.........I ain't goin there. However, how cool would it be if you gave her a ring while in the boat?!?!??!?

Quite the dilemma! Been there... grin.gif

Buy the ring if you want her to stick around. Buy the boat if you don't. wink.gif

I told my wife that I was thinking of buying a new boat while I thought in the back of my mind that I should get the ring as we dated for 5 years. We had talked about marriage, but no "pressure" conversations. Then I went and bought the ring and surprised her. I don't regret it. You can get a nice boat later in life.

Sell the bike anyways and put the money into savings (or a boat, whatever) if you never use it anymore. smirk.gif

Is there a problem with the boat you have now? Do you love this woman and want to marry her? I assume you do since you are thinking about getting a ring. If it were me, I would keep the boat I have, sell the bike and get the ring. There are always boats for sale, but the right woman only comes along once.

The boat can wait and there will always be another deal, you dont know that if your girlfriend is the one for you.

I wouldnt trade my wife for any boat. She lets me hunt and fish when I like and let me tell you I do alot of that.NO boat could replace her. There might only be one perfect mate for you and they do sell alot of boats and always will.

I say sell the bike and the boat......take your money and lady to vegas and let it all ride on red.......if you were meant to have the boat or the ring......than let er be red... if not....enjoy all the free drinks and start over again.

I'm not Dr phill, but if you think she should get a ring and its about that time to @#$% or get of the pot as they say, and you are trying to swing a boat deal just get the boat. unless she is paying all the bills then get her the ring. Later DP

LMAO you guys are great. I was mainly stuck on selling the bike, but you guys are all stuck on the ring, LMAO. I get a kick our of that.

I like a few of the ideas you guys had, one being let ir all ride on red, and the second being buy the boat and finance the ring! haha

Well we will see if the bike goes...Everything is forsale for the right price right, haha. later guys

Keep the bike. A boat is just a hole in the water to throw money into. wink.gif

Besides, a bike can help you cut transportation costs, a boat merely adds cost by at least x2 (boat gas, car/truck gas), etc. If that doesn't get everyone fired up, nothing will. smile.gif

Really though, if you are serious about the gal, then do the ring. If you don't know after 5+ years, maybe it's time to cut her loose/move on, yes??

Seriously guys! I don't know what planet you all are from, but the ring and whats attached to it, is definitely going to cost more in the long run. wink.gif

Sell the bike!

Buy an old Truck

Buy a dog!

Finance the boat!
