H2O not reading the Navionics Premium Chip

rollineyes

Question

Does anyone have any knowledge of the Lowrance H2O not reading the Navionics Premium Chip. When in the Advanced Mode, I press the menu key twice, then go to system setup, transfer my data and I get an error message I must first insert an MMC Card. I tried taking the card in and out a couple of times, but that didn't seem to make any difference. Has anyone else ran into this?

Thanks

Not sure what you mean? you wouldn't be transfering any data it's on the Card already.

Anyway you will have to select which region of the NAV chip that you want to use, thats with the chip in the unit of course, it's under Map data and I believe there are 4 different regions to choose from.

The Lakemaster MN chip just shows up with no selection required, the Nav chip has mulitple states so it requires the selection of the area you want.

Once selected zoom out and it will show which region you have selected.

I need to load the data from the MMC into the GPS before I can view it don't I? I am about as green as they come at this, I just bought the unit. When I go to view MMC files it tells me I must insert a MMC Card first. For some reason, it doesn't seem to acknowledge the card. When I go to the map data, the only two choices are Lowrance and Miami demo. I will have to call Lowrance in the morning.

Thanks for the help

No you dont load your data. The H2O searches and runs off the chip. In the advanced menu (first one) select option MAP DATA then hit ent. Last choice on that menu select Map Choice and hit ent then scroll down to the area you are in.

The biggest problem I had with the chip is selectiing the correct area. Almost everything south of millelacs lake is Smn61.nv2. The areas north of mille lacs is Nwmn61.nv2 and Nemn61.nv2. When you are using the navonics chip your H2O gets darker and you loose all road references. To practice look up center city mn and go to it. There you will see south and north center lakes. Put the curser on south center lake and zoom in once. Now go to map data and do the things I said in the first paragraph. after you have selected Smn lakes exit back out till the menus disappear and you will see lake structure. If you move the cursers on the lake it will give you depth and if you put the cross hairs on a mark on the lake it will tell you what it is like a hazard bouy or a public landing.

To get it out of navonics mode menu map data, map choice and select Lowrance then back out by hitting exit twice.

Good Luck

Eurolarva is right on the money, follow these directions.

I followed the directions you posted, but it still wouldn't read the chip. I called Lowrance and they told me that either my GPS unit or the chip is bad. I am taking the unit back today, but I ordered the chip online. Hopefully, the new one will work and its not the chip. I will take my chip into the store and try it. Thank you guys for taking the time and putting forth the effort to help me out! It is greatly appreciated!!!!

I believe in the directions for the navonics chip it said not to download it or it will get damaged. I think that meant with a chip reader on a pc. When you tried to download data or upload you may have damaged the chip. Just dont tell them you did any of that stuff.
