Give a little back!

Howdy all!

This morning I went down to one of my honey holes along the Zumbro River. Beautiful morning too I might add. After the short walk down the trail I arrived at the river bank only to find garbage spread out all along the point. Everything from broken Budweiser bottles to crawler containers. It was sure a pitiful site. frown.gif

So I walked back up to my vehicle and grabbed a bag. I picked up all of it. Gross stuff too! But there is the river right there and I can wash up afterwards so I cleaned up everything.

I was thinking.....ya know the rivers and lakes give us so much, and I think as good people we should give some back and pitch in to clean up the areas we love to be. I know it's tough! Cleaning up after the slobs, but we as FM'ers are better than that.

Thanks for letting me vent and if ya leave with one more piece of garbage than you came with, good for you!

No need to be sorry about venting Dan. Glad you brought it up as a reminder to all of us to "do our part" in making things cleaner.

What really gets me is that people like to use the port-a-potties as a garbage can. When entering the pottie, garbage is either stashed in the corners or when the lid is opened, more garbage then sewage is left in there mad.gif

Lets do our part in making the trips to the lakes/rivers more clean!

I pick up trash from the boat lauch here at Big Island Lake about three times a year. its a pain in the booty, but I worry that if I dont clean up the trash no one will. It gets me thinking that maybe the State,DNR,Forest Service, or someone else should do an "adopt a boatlaunch", similar to what they do with the highways. Maybe If Poeple-buisnesses could get a little recognition they may be more inclined to clean up after the slobs.

mad.gif The trash at Phalen Lake in Saint Paul is OUT OF CONTROL!!!

Being an avid outdoorsman it is one of the saddest things I have ever seen(reletivly speaking of course). mad.gif

Trash at landings is one of my pet peeves too. I picked up a bag full Friday while I was putting my boat in. On my way out later in the day, I noticed bags of trash by the portable toilets. The trash was right under a sign that said "you brought it, take it home with you".

At least they were considerate enough to put it all in bags... There were some real slobs up in this area and in one afternoon I came home with 3 bags of trash. Not the little kitchen bags mind you but the contractor specials! However I must say that I felt good when I was done. Needed a shower but still felt good that I was able to help.

Way to go guys.

That's the way it should be done. That and calling TIP when you see someone litter.
