FISH COUNTER

BAIT956

Question

When I was recently in Canada, one of my boatmates had a wristwatch type counter to keep track of the number of fish caught during the day. It worked, but wasn't really ideal as it was designed for golfers to keep track of their score.

Anybody have any ideas about what to use for counting.

Fingers and toes work great!! grin.gif

I have a couple of load counters that were used in the production trucks in the mines. One for total fish caught that day and one for the number of fish kept in my live well.

I have them mounted on the dash of my boat.

They work great.

All true guys, but I'm just one of those that like to keep count, keep a log and compare year to year. It's part of the fun for me.

Looking for something I can get in a store or build.

I think if I really wanted good number info I would keep a log book in the boat.

Create a page for every outing.

Date/time/weather/lake/location

then count your fish by putting a little dash, you could then count fish by species and by total fish.

You just have to remember to make a mark in the book after each fish.

I also have a tally counter that we took to Canada 3 Years ago. 2 of us boated 614 Walleyes in 2 1/2 days. It was also fun to see how many you could catch in a hour or how many before you pulled up anchor. I think our best hour was 100. We also only fished about 5 Hours a day as in Canada you can not drink in the boat and after all the eyes we need beer. The conters are also nice if you spend a long day on the water to keep track of what is in the box. My 6 year old daughter also loves to use it while we fish, it keeps her occupied inbetween fish. I think Graingers carries them. Good luck & Have some fun with it.

I have also spend alot of time looking for a fish counter. I have small kids and when the family is out fishing together we always lose count of how many fish we have in the livewell. So last winter I designed and created a fish counter that allows you to track crappie, sunfish, perch, walleye, northern and large and small mouth bass. The kids love it because they catch and track their own fish.

I can post a picture of the one that I made, if someone can help me post pictures.

Borch, When did you win your bid? I won mine over the wknd. Hopefully, we didn't win the same one. That happened to me last year with a 332c. I got burned on that deal. Good thing my credit card company didn't make me pay.

Do a google search on "Lanyard Clipper/Counter". There are several companies that make such a product. Bass Pro Shops is one of them. I picked mine up from a local bait shop in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

The white wheels spin with numbers 0-9 on each side.
