Do I have a bad seal

DTro

Question

I noticed this morning that I have a few small drops of oil on the floor under my 25 hp motor. It is coming from behind the prop. Just a few small drops. It is very dark, as in motor oil. I did mix heavy the last time I filled the tank (8oz to 2 gal). Do I have a bad seal, or was it because my mixture was too rich? I did have all the seals replaced at the end of last year when I replaced my bent prop shaft.

I don't think it's gear lube.

Thoughts?

I am going to guess you mixed too rich. But one way tell for sure is to see if you are gaining or losing lube, just remove the screw and see if you are still up to the top or over full.

if this is a 2 cycle; this will happen, especially running a rich mixture. it is just excess oil that collects in the exhaust( inside the prop). if it is just a few drops, keep an eye on it. you can check the lower unit level to be safe.

As others said it's just exhaust "gunk" caused from carbon deposit, water, and richer mixture.

Keep one eye on it, but I wouldn't worry about.
