Minn Kota Trolling motor

Barony

Question

I had a buddy who was cleaning out his garage and gave me a trolling motor that had been around lightning and knocked the mother board out. Obviously, it doesn't run. Has anyone dealt with something like this before, and if so, what did it cost to have a repair made? It's a Minn Kota Auto Pilot. I hooked it up to the battery today and it will turn side to side, but the prop will not turn. I am going to bring it to the Minn Kota in Mkto. this week, but am wondering if I am wasting my time.

First you'll have to figure out if the the main board, foot control or dirty contacts.

I'd start by using an electrical cleaner on the foot control contacts. Then move on to testing the foot control, best way to do that is borrow one.

You my want to bring it in and have it looked at. Worse case is the main board is shot. Last time I replaced one it ran $150 for the board.
