Gunflint Area

Hey All,

Im taking a trip up to the Gunflint area in early July ill be staying at Loon Lake Lodge and fishing loon lake. Has anyone ever stayed at this lodge?? Also wondering if anyone has some tactics for fishing up thier.

Loon Lake is a very deep and clear lake. It has a good population of walleyes but has better populations of lake trout and northerns. Can be kind of tough to fish. The owner of LLL knows it as good as anyone. I'd be surprised if you had more than 3 or 4 other anglers on the lake with you. A local caught a 17 pound walleye out of there in the early 90s. He cleaned it and ate it. I think the owner has some pics of it. Good luck.
