I've got an Alumcraft Lunker SS which is 14'6" with a beam of 65" and a 25 hp Mariner. The rig is 1982 vintage and the boat has a mini-console and is rated for 35.

With what should be a reasonable load in this rig, I am lucky to break 20 mph. Getting up on plane can be a challenge. To define reasonable load - a bow mount trolling motor, 2 people, a couple tackle bags and a 20 lb anchor.

There is no tilt & trim, but have tried all the positions in the manual trim adjust. The aluminum prop is in good shape and the motor starts and runs very well.

Any ideas what to check next? Obviously a 35 hp is an option, but would rather avoid that and it seems a 25 should perform better than this.
