buying used motors and trailer for a fishing boat

i am just looking for some advice on buying used outboards motors and trailers for a 16ft i think fishing boat it has the chair on front for fishing and a seat and stearing wheel on the rht hand side i am totally new to this as the boat is a gift from an uncle where should i turn???thanks

i recommend buying a used outboard or trailer from a dealer if you are not familar with either. getting stuck in the middle of a lake or on the side of the road can wreck your day! anytime your dealing with anything 'used' you run a risk of failure. a dealer hopefully has looked over what they are selling. i've had an old boat trailer break in half and engine problems seem like a common part of my fishing trips i actually like the tinkering.

yep i would have to agree with ya there im sure as soon as someone finds out im green on the boat scene they will try and take me. good advice thanks
