There's a spray that dissolves a lot of corrosion called PB Blaster. I use a bit of wet/dry sandpaper or a small wire brush. Sometimes scraping is the only way to get the green stuff off.

IFallsRon has it covered.... do exactly that and you will be good-to-go.

Its a good idea to put dielectric grease on both wire fittings(truck/boat) to prevent future corrosion, including where the ground wire grounds to the trailer/truck. It also works great on the brass base of the lights to prevent corrosion.... just about any electrical contact.
