long-term boat storage

Hi gang. A buddy had a dealer winterize his boat last fall. He is now deployed to Iraq.
Any downside to letting the boat sit in storage for over a year (2 winters)?
Or, does it need to be taken out a time or two and then be winterized again this fall?

If it was winterized properly it should be fine.The only concern I would have is the fuel sitting that long.

Nice try. Quite a convenient excuse to take 'er out for a spin. lol But on the serious side, out at the shop here we've seen them in storage alot longer than that. Rmh20 is right about the fuel though. Stabilizer is only good for a certain length of time. It should be drained. The biggest concern in my opinion would be keeping the mice out. He wants me to put it in the water. Gave the keys before he left. I just don't feel good about taking it out without him. I'll just keep the batteries charged up.

If it's sitting on concrete I would put the tires on some carpet scraps for next winter. It will keep the tires from cracking.
