Ice-fishing rods

Hello, I am a High School Agriculture Teacher, and would like my students to make ice-fishing rods. Anyone know of a site to check out or method that is inexpensive, and relatively easy.

You could check with Cabelas, they have some inexpensive kits that might be just what you're looking for. Make sure to mention you're ateacher and this is a school project and I'd bet they'd give you a bit of a discount too.

So after they build their icesticks do they get a field trip out to the local fishin hole!

I made one in Jr High something like this. Made from 1x4 pine. You can use a glass blank if you want the fancy model.

Try one of the Lesser rod manufacturers. Tell them what your doing. Ask for one-piece handles and reel seats and some 2nds for blanks.

Cabela's close-out room had a bucket of rod tips for a couple bucks apiece. Talk to management about it being a school project and they might give you a quantity discount.
