They are all good augers, all use the same motor. one spins one way the other spins the other way. I have a jiffy 3hp 9" and the Ultra 3 blade. The 3hp will out cut when warmed up and spins faster, the 2hp Ultra bogs down a little when cutting.

Since I you didnt mention a Eskimo auger I will. There engines are probably the best out there. I absoutly love them. The gas tank is nice, the moffler is covered, you can lean it on its side, has a choke and a primer, and is built tough.

But if you arent looking at a Eskimo I would go with the SM Ultra 9" 3-blade. A very fast, smooth auger. It works wonders on re-opening old holes too.

i have a 2 horse jiffy legend lightning with the 9" d-icer armor ripper blades. i really like this auger. i took it up to lake of the woods and left it outside in -25 degrees weather and had absolutely no problems starting it. it fired on the third pull. the 9 " seems to be the perfect size for me. i used to fish out of a ten inch hole, but down sized when bringing kids with me. the two horse seems to cut great and when the chipper blade brakes through it seems to bog down a little bit, i just lift up on it and it finishes the hole just fine. i would definately buy another one if i ever have to. just my .02

i think the only difference between the stealth and mine is the addition of two small cutting surfaces on the pilot point. i have a friend with the stealth 8" it cuts nice, but i don't know if it is enough to warrant paying more for it. i got a heck of a deal on mine when i bought it. i bought it at a cabelas side walk sale last fall for 225.00. it was one of four that were new in the box. i have cut probably 200 holes with it so far and i really like it. customer service with the jiffy has been excellent. i have no doubt that there are several other good augers out there. i just happened to find mine on sale and now that i have it i would have paid full price for it in a heartbeat. but i shouldn't have to buy another auger for quite a while. good luck making a decision.

I have a Jiffy 3hp Legend and she cuts great after the 6th hole.(takes awhile to get her warmed up)
I used an Eskimo Barracuda (2hp) the other day and was very immpressed. She started right up and ran great even on the first hole.It cut faster than a warmed up Jiffy too.If you get one you should invest in some Ice Grippers. It will spin you. smile.gif

info i can give now is to buy from a local shop so if there is a problem you can go back to them ,that is if they have a good return policy and ask what there policy is. i'm still trying to get one that works, i'm on # 3 and still waiting.i won't do mail order again for a power auger. too much hassle if they don't work.
