Favorite Bait?

What's your favorite bait for Icefishing for Walleyes, and is there anything specific you do or look for (size, color, fins, presentation, etc.)that makes it better bait?

My favorites are rubby reds the biggest I can find. & hook them through the lips.

I am a simple guy. I usually just have on a fathead on a jig head or a minnow head on a spoon like an Angle Eye or a Go Devil. I also like to use small sucker minnows under tip-ups at night when I'm chasing the piggies.

When looking for walleyes I want some thing that draws them in like a buck-shot rattle. The nice thing is they work great for perch too!!! If they wont't take it, make a dropper rig out of it.

I like a go-devil with a minnow head. It's also CRITICAL to have a good flasher so you can see the fish come in and then work them.

I like a Glow Deamon with a shinner hooked by the dorsal fin.

Then for my second line I like a buckshot spoon or a chubby darter to get them in.

As for favorite baits I personally am a big fan of Go-Devils in the 1/4 oz sz I tip them with fatheads.

My favorite winter walleye system: a pink to white transition northland jig. Not sure what kind of northland jig but i have a bunch of this same kind. They have the little eyes that move around, but its a smaller one but big enough to use for walters. Then whatever kind of minnows they are biting on. Personal favorite, rainbows...

I'm a pretty simple guy when it comes to fishing. Swedish pimple tipped with a minnow head is hard to beat. #5 or #7. If need be, I always pull the treble hook off and replace with just 1 plain hook. I discovered this weekend that the gold with greenish scales decal works really well.

After using them for a few years and not knowing what they were called ( we called them Bo Jangles back then ) or who made them I found out about a year ago that my go to walleye spoon is the Flasher Spoon by JR's Tackle. Great lure on Lake Of The Woods and countless other lakes. The small glow red ones are deadly on Red Lake Crappies too.

A couple of years ago I stumbled on to them. JR's Tackle flutter crusher spoons with a minnow head. These thing take neutral to negative fish and make them hit. I think because they fall so slow.
