"Hooray! Breaking New Ground!

The Grebe

Recommended Posts

In the summer, when I'm not working, not fishing, and when I'am fairly caught up on the extra cirricular projects, I'm on the phone trying to find someone to go golfing with.

We play alot of par three, executive courses, because it is'nt always possible to find the time for the par fives,

but...every once in awhile we sneak one in!

You know, some folks think it is crazy to whack that little ball around on that big old course, but I guess it is no more crazy then alot of things and alot of business deals get made on the golf course!

It's alot like fishing in the sense that it is something that you can do for your entire life. Fish a little, golf a little, hunt a little, ahhhhh, life is good!

del... Whooa dude? Like I told you in a past post, "DON'T MAKE ME COME DOWN THERE!" grin.gif

There are about 15 new lakes I want to try this winter and it is waaaaay to early to be talking warm weather....even

when golfing is concerned!

I got my wife interested in golf last summer. When she goes to swinging the club, (Gets after the ball, I should say) it looks like she is trying to bludgeon a rat to death!

We have alot of laughs and we have a good time and if someone catches up to us, hey, they can play on through! Next season will be great, but I can wait it out and do some major ice fishing, between now and then.

i would also do some checking for the shorter courses besides the par three ones. even in waterloo,ia. there are public coures that don't have the 500+ par fives. if you hit your irons well you wouldn't be too hanicaped . such as a 480 par 5;( eam. 3-4 two times , and then a short iron or wedge to the green) it does get a little tougher on long par 4's , but i think you would be surprised.i know several guys ( that are decent golfers) who only hit irons. del

Dirtyb25...there are afew other par 3 courses in the north metro besides Wirth. We will do Wirth on occassion, as with a few others, namely, Brookland Execut. on 82nd and Regent, friendly people, easy to get a tee time, nice par 3 course, with a couple of longer holes where a duffer can use the driver.

Centerbrook Golf, across from Brookdale, off #100 on Lilac Dr. is a good iron course, fast, when you are really short on time.

New Hope par 3 on Bass Lake rd. in New hope, is kinda different, another good iron course that you can hustle through to keep sharp.

This last one is a little beauty, Eagle Lake Par 3 on Bass Lake rd. in Plymouth. Nice little course, scenic, with a nice stroll through the woods.

Varied situations, from greens that will let you practice your flop shot if you miss, to sand, to a finishing hole comming up hill to the club house, where you can use your driver, unless you are a 300+ hitter, which I'am not!

I'm sure there are more par 3 courses in the north metro, but these are the ones that I'am familiar with and give us enough variety when we are running short on time, as is usually the case.
