Cooter
I know its obvious I'm already looking forward to open water, but I figure now is a good time to learn and share info. Just wondering how many of you use plastic trailers on your bucktails and/or spinnerbaits? If so - single or double tail, and favorite colors. Also, what size trailer? I almost always use a 3 or 4 inch single tail trailer, sometimes bigger. I like white or orange, something to contrast with the bucktail color. Am gonna experiment with twin tails and shad(thumper or boot tail) trailers next year.
delmuts
cooter. i have never tried any plastic on an in-line, but always use one on a spinner bait. i will normally use a grub type plastic , but may go to a twin tail around weeds some times . my twin tails are just the bass size. ( just a little some thing) the grubs can range from a 4" to 6" .colors , i only carry four colors. a dark ( june bug) then white, char. and orange. we also carry serveral types and styles of paddle tails that get used on jigs. del
guideman
Hey Cooter,I let the fish tell me if they want it or not as well as what color they like the best. I find thetrailers work best in warmer water than in cold. It's also a good way to give smaller bucktails a larger profile in dark or stained water. I will on occasion, use some kind of swim baits on the back of my spinnerbaits to give them a different look. It also makes them more bouant so they sink slower and that can be the difference in whether you just get looks or bites on a spinnerbait.
