pond fishing

Been on 6 ponds ice on them all over 5 inch.Some good gills eating size.Going to try some river spots close to home.Crappie at Volga lake should start up soon.I plan on fishing it alot.So reports will be coming.

I was on our small farm pond this weekend and dad and I each managed a small catfish. Our crappies were slow and small that day as well but the bluegills were very willing so it was a fun 2 hours before the company came for Christmas dinner.

This afternoon, there was about 4" of good clear ice on the ponds here in Coralville. I caught a bunch of small sunnies in one, and a couple small crappies--typical for a small public pond. What the heavy rain we had in Coralville a couple hours ago might do to the ice is something to check.

Hit a farm pond friday afternoon in SW Iowa...Ringgold county....3-4" of ugly honeycombed ice, but man were the crappies biting!!!
