0 tomfromblaine
I dont think I'd change the fuel/air mixture to much unless you know it's running to rich. the only other thing you can do is to switch to a synthetic oil to mix up to 100/1, however some people arent quite that comfortable with that mixture and stay around 75 or 80/1 hope this helps, I think most people do notice a little extra zip especially when the blades are really gettin' into it. 0 BigDaddy
Thanks. I spoke with the Jiffy guys at the ice show and they said that I could cut my mixture by half from what is recommended when the auger was new. I'm just looking for other case studies. 0 minneman
my old jiffy got to use my 50/1 boat mix left over from fall for many years. never had any probs but it still smoked some. I think synthetic would be worth a try...?
0 Bryon
When you mix 80:1, How much oil to how much gas? Maybe someone can shed some light on this for me. 80:1 means what?80 (parts) is how much to 1 (part) is how much? Any help?Bryon
0 New Yankee
80 parts fuel to 1 part oil - most oil containers will have the ratio broke down to 'x' per gal. do a web search on gas oil mixture ratios and you'll find some pretty intricate sites that will get as detailed as you want/ounces/gallons/liters etc.Or, keep it simple and follow the directions on the oil bottle. Most marine places have calibrated oil tubes/bottles (I've even seen them in Wallys and auto parts stores) if you're mixing partial tanks - particularly usefull for built in boat tanks that you can't determine EXACTLY what's left in the tank.
