Guide Spacing

Anybody have a chart for guide spacing on a ice rod. I'll need it for a 28" and 24".

Its all a matter of preferance.. I just took a rod that I liked and copyed that. I dont have the measurements on me.. nor do I think I have any 24" or 28"... I have messed up lenghts... Mine are like 25"

I would suggest using the guide spacing charts only as a starting place for determining guide placement. Let the stress distribution tests and casting tests tell you where to place the guides. In your case, only the stress distribution test, unless you plan to cast with you ice rod , will be used. That's one of the benefits to building your own, you have the time to put into a rod to make sure everything is done perfect.

Another idea would be to go into a store and measure one of them that you like the looks of?

Spinning rig or baitcast? I like a short butt on all my ice rods. On a 28" spinning rod you could go with 3 guides and a tiptop. With each guide the spacing gets reduced.

First guide at say 14.5". The next guide would be set at 20" then 25.5".

I would agree with priorbass. Those are the exact measurements I use for my rods. Before I started building ice rods, I went and measured all the rods I have for a starting point. If you have any questions, let me know.
