Eating in the stand

I am trying out a new stand this year that is about a mile and a half hike back to my truck and a 5 mile drive to camp. The stand I've used in the past was a quick walk back to the truck so I've just gone back for a quick lunch. If the weather is OK and if I don't bag a buck that morning I would like to stay in my stand all day. Does anyone else out there eat in their stand? Does anyone recommend that I don't? Any suggestions for low sent grub? I was thinking a granola bar and/or a sandwich. I just figure the more time in the tree the better the odds.

I take a tupperware style container (air-tight) and bring whatever to eat, just seal it up when I'm not digging food out of it. I eat alot of fruit snacks, breakfast bars, etc. As far as low scent goes, just don't fart on stand or you'll never see a deer (kiddin'!)

Tguy, the more you eat on stand the longer you stay....

it keeps your internal heater going.

I noramlly take my frozen ham sandwich and throw it down the front of my shirt, it will actually warm it

I used to take a tupperware container too: until last year. Remember -11 below opening morning? Needless to say the wifes tupperware lid was no more after I tried to open it. Warmer day I am sure it would be fine though.

This is one of lifes greatest pleasures...a sweet roll with sumer suasage washed down with hot coffee. Does it startle the deer???? I have shot (shot at actually) deer before, during, and after a meal in my stand.

Have a great hunt...that is what is important.

I shoot most of my Deer between 10:30 and 2:00 because you guys leave your stand for lunch. You are much appreciated!

I usually shoot my deer between 8 & 9:30. I get down by 11:00 to get together with the rest of the party & help them get one, as well as find out if I should shoot more. I'd like to stay on my stand, but gun season is close to 50% social for me. I've usually shot 2-3 deer before it opens anyway.

Take lots of apples, have a few bits, drop one on the ground by your stand. Have another, drop it, have another, etc...apples are good for you and deer.

i remember. my water bottle froze too. only i was trying to get some ice out to suck on and i bit on the top part of the bottle where the lit screws on. the ice must have been under pressure because as soon as i cracked the ice it blew out of the bottle and pieces of ice accually cut my lip and tounge. that sucked. I myself do eat in the stand. My eight point came out just as i was finishing my sandwich. which i might add my jelly was a little frozen too.
