Captain Ken
Most if not all of the ice is gone. Open water on lots of lakes. I give up. I'm going to Lake Vermilion to do some ice fishing. It is below freezing again, but since it was 60 a few days ago, I'm not optimistic. JAR JAR
Sorry about your situation down there. Up here in northern Wisconsin we have 12"+ and most lakes in Minnesota they are driving on. I know your frustration because I used to live in Aurora and some winters it would be mid January before I could get on Meyers Bay on the "Chain". Well I hope this cold snap gets you some ice soon Jar Jar
Captain Ken
The ice is always so iffy lately. Oh well, Thursday I will be on Vermilion and that will make it all better!Ken------------------Captain Ken Kesslerwww.captainken.comGuiding in Illinois and North East Minnesota847-970-9108 Illinois218-742-4680 Minnesota
Guest
As cold as it is today and the rest of the week, ice should be o.k. by the weekend. I am going to give it a try on Lake Holiday this weekend.
JAR JAR
Is lake holiday the private lake down by Sandwich or Somanauk? What species are you after in there?Jar Jar
Guest
Yes, Lake Holiday is near Sandwich and Somonauk. The lake has real nice crappie fishing for this area. Also the fishing club operates a small fish hatchery and they have been releasing walleye fry into the lake every year. All I have caught of the walleye so far have been undersize (8"-12"), but they seem to be getting bigger every year.
JAR JAR
I used to fish Shabbona religously and did well on walleyes but they seem ed to always run on the dink size.Any word on how the fishing has been there?I might plan a trip down there if its worth the trip.Jar Jar
