Selmer
A friend and I are planning on heading for Clear Lake on Wednesday to chase yellow bass. It will be my last outing of the season as I'm having shoulder surgery on Friday. I could use some tips on where to go for the bass and what to use, jigs, baits, etc., I've never caught them, but I hear they are a blast. Any help is greatly appreciated.Selmer
iowaboy
Just look for the crowd! Stop at the Dome bait shop on the northwest shore and Jim can tell you what's going on and where.
CSP88
I was there last Saturday (1/10/04). I tried the north side first, was marking fish but no takers. I then moved to the west side by the aerators, within 20-30 yards of open water, ice was 5-6 inches. Was slow until around 4:00 then it really picked up. They were hitting the smallest jiggin rap in rainbow color tipped with a minnow head, I also had a green forage minnow tipped with a waxworm on a bobber but not a bite on that set up. I suggest staying away from the crowds. Nothing more disturbing then seeing fish come in only to have a gas auger start up within 10 feet of you spooking the fish. Good luck![This message has been edited by CSP88 (edited 01-12-2004).]
