HELP please.....

Looking for a good place close to the SW Metro to take my boyus shooting .22 and shotgun clays...

Is there any good State land nearby and where is a good place to look for State ground to hunt and shoot ???

Are there any good public outdoor ranges that have iron targets ???

Where is a good place for a pop to take his boys to get some squirells thats public ???

As for shooting ranges public or private close to town .. your pretty much S.O.L. The last public that I knew of close to town was Moon Valley on 212 east of Shakopee/Chaska. I dont know if they are still open, and the rates were ridiculas the last time I was there(many years ago). Your best bet is to find someone with private land that would allow you to do some shooting.

For hunting there are some places around. Carver Highlands and Louisville Swamp are just a couple locations you can hunt south of town, and safe enough to take your kids. I would avoid Carlos Avery and Lamprey Pass north of the cities .. A bullet proof vest would be in order. None of these places allow target shooting. You can check the DNR site for more hunting land around the cities/state. They have most WMA's and state forest listed with pretty good descriptions and boundaries.

There are a few places around here that I could take you on private land. Got two shooting ranges nearby too.
