Found this p/u trash along side of road on low swamp edge going to treestand this morning.

It's definitely metal, edges where thinner bend like lead but density is too light. Cheap fish scale says 3.2 #. Looking at bottom was the imprint &  top is dried molten.

& only 1 joe dirt gif please.

Forgot to add that it's not magnetic either.

Mystery solved

Its a round bottom piece. of tin , pounded over a rounded mold ( no rim to stick in mud) which was filled w/ pitch tar, paint, slag, nails, etc& used as a counterweight on a lever to throttle a canal gate keeping the creek level correct for the homestead. The place i found it was about 50' from modern culverts & once owned by William Burt , who invented the typewriter, solar compass & other engineering toys. Source is a curator at Greenfield Village& Uof M engineering prof.
