Popular Post rundrave
Had to put my 12 year old GSP down today. Just sucks and huge kick in gut with everything else going on at the moment. This was the last thing I needed to deal with right now. He went down hill fast. Found some issues with his prostate late last week. Tried a Hail Mary over the weekend with some meds and didn’t see any sign of improvement so had to do what was best for him and put him down this afternoon. My first year pheasant hunting was 1990 and I have been around a lot of bird dogs in the field and hunt tests over the years. Have owned more than one GSP and this guy was a special one. Would appreciate it if you all could give your bird dogs a little extra scratch behind the ear for me. Hardest part was breaking it to my kids. On top of that with the covid virus they wouldn’t let me go inside any vets office to be with him. Wasn’t going to allow him to go down without me so made them do it from my truck. Delicate situation and I support the policy not to allow me in the building. Just another thing that made this difficult. Its all bittersweet I already had another pup on the way but wanted them staggered and not start completely over. Here is a tail feather salute to every bird I personally shot over him: chaffmj, smurfy, Wanderer and 7 others 3 4
bobbymalone
Sorry about your dog. Rough stuff. If I had to choose between the vet's office or truck, I'd rather go in the truck. rundrave and Hoey

rundrave
Thanks everyone, still sucks. Counting down the days until the new pup gets to come home, that should help soften the blow a bit. Mike89 and ozzie

Wanderer
Great salute Dustin. Sorry to hear you lost him. Tough, though pill to swallow. You’ll never forget your best one but like you say, time to let a new one start the healing. rundrave

smurfy
Last thing from a hunting dog, but been my little lady for 16 years. Had to put her down today and already feeling lost. She just wasn't doing well. I'll bring her to the cabin and bury her there next week where her and I spent lots of days together.
