Nba Free Agency

What is your take on NBA free agency?

With all of the big names on the move this year its looking more and more like we're going to have nothing but a handful of super teams in big market cities.  If you're a fan outside of those markets whats going to be the draw to get you to buy a ticket or even watch your team on tv?

The Wolves may have been in a position to lure some talent to partner with KAT had they not signed Wiggins and Dieng to such awful contracts.  We're basically dead in the water until we can find someone to take Wiggins.

It has been a crazy time watching all the players change teams and frustrating to watch the Wolves have to sit and do nothing due to the fact of bad contracts to bad players!  Would have to think that if the Wolves couldn't move Wiggins now, unless he changes his aggression, they will be stuck with him for the duration of the contract eating up KAT's big years so when KAT becomes a free agent he will feel bad about wasting years here and will probably bounce.  For the rest of this free agency it will be interesting to see what the Lakers fill out the rest of their roster and where Kawhi lands.  Fun Fun FUN

If they can't get KAT some help he'll likely be gone once his contract is up.  Actually we'll be lucky if he finishes his deal without forcing his way out in a trade.

I don't see any real way of getting rid of Wiggins.  If you did trade him and his contract you'd have to put in some huge sweeteners into the deal, at minimum some first round picks.

Its a good time to be a Nets fan, Lakers fan, and Warriors fan.  Not a good time to be a fan of any other team.

Wolves won’t be going to the playoffs anytime soon. We are making some good moves with the limited resources we have though. But until Wiggins is gone, we’re hoping for high draft picks.

If Kawhi signs with the lakers, what’s the point in even having a regular season next year? Last year the season went exactly how everyone thought...warriors went to the finals, and would have won if not for the injuries in the playoffs. I can’t stand LeBron, so I hope Kawhi stays in Toronto.

Kawhi staying in Toronto is really the only hope we have of some parity in the NBA.  Brooklyn might take a year before they are set with Durant out next season, the Warriors will be without Klay for the bulk of next season and they'll likely have to play with a bunch of misfits to fill out the roster since the bulk of their payroll is tied up in 3 players.  If Kawhi goes to the Lakers it could be a pointless season.  The Lakers could sleep walk their way to a title.

Hopefully the wolves play the 3-4 year game. There is no window right now given the 3 super teams that are forming unless they get lucky and draft a superstar in the next year or two (hard to say that with a straight face).  The trouble with that is how do you keep KAT happy in the interim?  Hopefully he can buy into the long term plans and see that their is no window right now.

When Kawhi inevitably leaves Toronto, they would be able to take on Wiggins contract and the trade does make sense in that scenario.

Rumor has it, the three players we just signed may be used in a salary dump trade. I'd like to keep Bell, but would be happy to trade any (or all) of them to get rid of Wiggins' contract.

3-4 year focus is a must for the Wolves. No sense in taking large contracts to screw us over for years to come. We now have a young core and if we focus on the 2020 PG saturated draft, we can be a strong playoff team in 3-4 years. That still allows 1-2 years on KAT's contract to get a ring.

The 2 players the wolves got from the Golden State we're a salary dump for the warriors so they could sign Russel.  Their contracts aren't guaranteed so the wolves could dump them or package them in another trade or maybe they make the roster.  No real risk for the Wolves and its nice to have options.  Time will tell how valuable they end up being.

As for Bell he can't be traded until December 15th at the earliest since you can't sign a free agent and trade him before then.

Was pleasantly surprised to wake up and see the news of Leonard signing with the clippers. And also trading for Paul George!  That’s like a double kick in the pants to the lakers!

Lakers were able to use all that extra money to at least fill out their roster. Not great players, but a significant upgrade to settling with 2nd round draft picks, which was the original plan if they signed Leonard.

There’s actually some parody in the west for the first time in 5 years! Lakers, clippers, warriors, jazz, nuggets, and rockets all have a chance to make it to the finals.

Can’t wait to watch “undisputed” on Monday. Skip Bayless is going to have a field day on Shannon Sharpe.
