A lot of slush and snow on the lakes this year

 

 Still ice covered in the Duluth area on Lake Superior but it’s turning dark. That’s where I will start my open water  season before the regular fishing opener

Are there any lakes open at all in Minnesota? Especially the southern part of the state?

That is correct Smurfy! DNR declared Pepin to be the first “official” lake to be ice free this morning I do believe.

Where Is the w-e-b-s-I-t-e that shows what lakes are already ice free  and the ice out date?

Imaginate, el Domingo fui a la laguna y me ni bien llegue a casa vi mi officina y ya me volvieron ganas de ir otra vez, en Corriente hay linda pesca de Dorado, si alguien llega a argentina le recomiendo.. Un saludo y ahora con Semana De Pascuas ire yendo manaña hasta el lunes.. Un saludo

My rods have been rigged for opener for a couple weeks now.

I skipped right over planning for the walleye opener and spent my efforts on my muskie gear.  

 

Plus fixed the cracked transom on the toon and ran a few trips up and down the river over Easter weekend.  Then helped a buddy test out his new/used Lund 1875 Pro V GL on Gull the other night after work.  THAT got the juices flowing!  What a sweet rig.  

 

When we got to the landing I stood there a bit and let smell of the open water soak into my brain.  It’s time.

 The local lakes are open. I’ve been on Lake Superior a couple times as my appetizer for the opener and the fishing has been pretty good
